On the morning of July 21, 2025, the opening ceremony for the summer exchange program with KSPH students from Kazakhstan Medical University was held at the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) . A delegation of seven faculty members and students from Departments of Neurosurgery, Endocrinology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Vascular Surgery at the KSPH, Kazakhstan Medical University, attended the opening ceremony. Participants from FAH included Yao Hongmei, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Center, Qi Lei, Deputy Director of the Teaching Department, Mei Na, Head Nurse of the Interventional Operating Room, Yao Lan, Deputy Head Nurse of the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, as well as subject liaisons from the various academic departments receiving the trainees. The ceremony was chaired by Yao Hongmei, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Center.

Deputy Director Yao Hongmei gave a brief introduction of the attending guests. Deputy Director Qi Lei delivered a welcome speech, and provided an overview of the hospital’s medical services, division distribution, and the standardized residency training program. He expressed his hope that the trainees would enhance their professional skills through this academic exchange and lay a solid foundation for their future careers in medicine. Head Nurse Mei Na and Deputy Head Nurse Yao Lan introduced the basic operations of the surgical departments and emphasized the management protocols in the operating rooms.
Adilbek Artykbayev, the faculty leader from Kazakhstan Medical University’s KSPH, delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful and thorough preparations made by FAH. He also conveyed his hope that this exchange program would further promote collaboration between the two institutions in the fields of medical education and clinical practice. Artur Koishybayev from the Department of Endocrinology spoke on behalf of the trainees. He emphasized that all participants deeply cherished this valuable learning opportunity and looked forward to more exchange activities in the future.

In November 2024, during a visit to Kazakhstan by a delegation from the Provincial Health Commission, She Junjun, Vice President of FAH, signed a cooperation agreement with the KSPH at Kazakhstan Medical University. The successful launch of this exchange program marks a new stage in the partnership between the FAH and Kazakhstan Medical University. Looking ahead, both sides will continue to deepen exchanges and work together to advance medical education and healthcare development.
